The short answer

How big is a padel court?

A standard padel court measures 20 metres long by 10 metres wide (65.6 ft × 32.8 ft) — a total playing area of 200 m² (about 2,153 sq ft). The court is fully enclosed by glass walls and metal mesh, split into two halves by a net, and needs a minimum free height of 6 metres (about 20 ft) above the playing surface.

The layout

How a padel court is laid out

The net runs across the middle, dividing the 20 m court into two equal halves of 10 m × 10 m. Service lines sit 3 m in from each back wall, and a centre service line splits each side into two service boxes. The whole court is enclosed: glass back walls 3 m high, side walls that step down in glass and metal mesh, with side access openings for players.

Court types

Single vs double padel court size

Almost every padel court is built for doubles (two-against-two), measuring 20 × 10 m. The less common singles court is the same 20 m length but narrower at 20 × 6 m (65.6 × 19.7 ft), for one-against-one play. If you are building a club or facility, the 20 × 10 m doubles court is the standard you want — see our padel court construction options.

Planning

How much space do you need to build a padel court?

The court itself occupies a 20 × 10 m footprint (200 m²), but allow a little extra room for access and run-off — around 21 × 11 m per court is a comfortable minimum. You also need at least 6 m of clear height above the surface (7–8 m indoors so lobs play correctly).

Outdoor courts need a level, well-drained base — see our padel court construction process. For year-round indoor play, a covered padel court adds the height and weather protection you need. Browse nets, glass and turf for the components that complete the court.
